We hope you’ve all had a great start to 2024🙏🏼

• ‘Apple Shortbread PB Crumble’ + Cottage Cheese 🍎🥜🧀
• Macaroni & Cheese + Green Beans + Roll with Peanut Butter & Jelly 🧀🍞🥜
• LaRosa's Pizzeria Pizza 🍕
Quite a few comfort foods in there, but do we truly expect much more during those weird weeks at the end of December/early January?!🤔🤷🏼♀️😴😂 #whatdayisit
We are getting back to routine now, which I’m excited about. But nothing will be changing around here. No New Years Resolutions to radically change our diet.
There’s no need. 🤷🏼♀️ Instead, I’ll be focusing on including ALL foods. And enjoying every second of it!
I know that ^ may be a resolution for you.❤️
I hope you find that peace and joy this year, and break free of toxic thinking when it comes to food. Food is meant to be enjoyed and to nourish. Our bodies literally NEED it! I hope we all find that in this new year. And I hope we can pass that along to our children, for ALL the reasons!
& speaking of 'What Baby Eats', let's check in on the Cinnamon Applesauce Recall,
. with a median age of those impacted being 1 year old..
Cinnamon Applesauce Recall Update:
The CDC reports that we have officially crossed 350 suspected cases when it comes to lead poisoning and adverse effects from Cinnamon Applesauce pouches. In this count, the CDC confirms 93 cases while the investigation continues. Per the records of the CDC and FDA, ~41 states have reported cases, although there are some discrepancies noted on the FDA and CDC websites.. indicating to me that perhaps we have over 41 states impacted. South Carolina and Arizona seemed to be missing from the list at the CDC when I checked today, meanwhile Oregon is missing from the FDA webpage yet named on the CDC. That itself seems pretty colossal.
In total, a reported 354 cases are currently confirmed or under investigation. And unfortunately, I don't think we have hit the end point quite yet..
The FDA continues to work on the investigation as to how such an elevated level of lead could appear in Applesauce pouches. I mean, we are talking 200-2,000x "normal" limits. They have traced this cinnamon to Ecuador, however things have gotten trickier here. Since the FDA does not have direct jurisdiction or authority in this scenario, they continue to work with officials from Ecuador and elsewhere to determine what exactly has occurred here. I do hope and pray that we hear more information on the investigation standings soon. For now- if you have WanaBana, Weiss Markets, and Schnuck's brand Cinnamon Applesauce pouches - TOSS THEM!

Starting Solids Shopping / Checklists
Not sure where to start when it comes to Starting Solids with your little one? Get my PDF files, "Starting Solids Checklist". This includes 3 PDF files, each broken down by age in months & by food groups, so you'll have plenty of ideas when it comes to foods to introduce during the first year! Keep in mind, this is not a challenge, but a great tool to use directly as a shopping list, a tracking list for which foods have/have not been introduced, an 'idea generator' for those days/weeks that meal planning is more hassle or effort than nearly anything else in the day..
Note: Part 1 Checklist will pop up immediately for download. Parts 2 and 3 will be emailed within 72 hours of purchase! This email will also include a copy of Checklist Part 1.

Apple Shortbread Peanut Butter Crumble:
I shared this little ‘dish’ in the midst of 'What W Eats Wednesday' above, noting that it was random with a little back story. 🙃
Well, here is it. 😜😂
Poor W has an extra special place in my heart. He has always been a pretty great eater! And sometimes, he is viewed as a bit of a “garbage dump” when it comes to our food supplies.
No, I don’t literally mean that. W isn’t scared to try new things. Which gives me more freedom to throw random foods together.
I very often combine random leftovers to make something new.
Sometimes it’s a bit healthier.
Sometimes, I’m simply using up foods.
Both reasons are wonderful.
And both reasons are valid.
Does W love every concoction I’ve brought to him? No.
(He has had a few VERY onion and/or garlic filled dishes over this year 😬😂)
But his willingness to try and excitement on his face when he does like a food dish?!
Priceless 😍🍎🙌🏼
ICYMI Summary: Hubby & I went out for a date night! We ordered a dessert, but weren't impressed. I had just made extra peanut butter cookies for my daughter's school party. AKA - let's just add all these things together now! & this one was quite tasty!
